About Blayne Pierce

Blayne

Blayne Pierce started playing piano at the early age of 7 in upstate New York.  His roots were classically based eventually studying piano at the prestigious Eastman School of Music in Rochester. At the age of 14 he was already playing out professionally with people twice his age.  "I was blessed growing up in Western New York and being able to meet or work with so many talented musicians like Chuck Mangione, Billy Sheehan, Lou Gramm and so many others. I was always in awe of the great musicianship that area had to offer. It was quite humbling"

After doing a number of projects that took him up and down the East Coast he came back to Rochester and was a founding member of the popular 80's Rock band Cheater.  Joining forces with a former band mate and good friend Jeff Cosco and pulling together some other musicians including the guitarist and drummer from Capitol recording artists Black Sheep (Lou Gramms band before Foreigner). Later the drummer from Canadian recording artists Toronto joined the band. Cheater released a 10 inch EP plus Cheater 1983 now on CD and did extensive touring including doing 328 dates in one year both as headliner and opening act.

Blayne took a short break from Cheater in 82 to work with Easton West on an album with Ashley Mulford (Sad Cafe , Mike and the Mechanics) in a studio near Montreal Canada.  After that project was finished he returned to Rochester and started working with Cheater again.  Shortly after finishing the 1983 Cheater recordings Blayne decided to take a break from the fast pace of music and pursue other interests.  Still he kept involved in music doing side gigs and studio sessions here and there. "I love music, it is my passion and part of who I am, and I could never keep it very far from me"   Blayne then moved to Spanish Fort, Alabama in 1992 and still keeping up with music started an entertainment magazine called Take One as well as a wholesale jewelry company.  As far as playing, other than a few reunions of Cheater, Blayne had been spending most of his time with his wife and his daughter and running his businesses.  " I really missed playing and creating with others and am extremely excited to be working with the wonderful people in Journey 2 Mars."
